House Update
Posted by Samuel in Uncategorized on 08 31st, 2009So our place on Bull Shoals lake is coming along nicely. We were down their this weekend and got quite a bit of work done, and we played a nice round of golf (well actually 2 nice rounds of golf) at Theodosia country club. Theodosia looks better than it has for at least the last 4-5 years, the fairways are in great shape and the greens are looking pretty good too…. We were also talking with Matt Shocky (the greens keeper) and he let us know about a great golf course that is down just below Bull Shoals Dam near Gaston’s resort. So we are definitely going to stop by the golf course down there next time we are down and we will be sure to post a review of the course on our blog to let everyone know how it was.

Posted by Samuel in Website updates on 08 28th, 2009Chaonia Landing Resort has been added to our our site. Chaonia is located on Lake Wappapello and is a great resort. They have 8 cabins, 16 campsites and 2 (that’s right 2) full service marinas. Overall Chaonia is a very nice resort, all of the cabins look very well kept, and they look to be in great shape. The resort is definitely on our list of resort to visit on Lake Wappapello, especially considering how hard it is to find lodging at wappapello.

Spotlight Lake Pomme De Terre
Posted by Samuel in Uncategorized on 08 21st, 2009Like most of the lakes in the Missouri Ozark, lake pomme de terre is noted for its great water quality and excellent fishing. Pomme De Terre is also a very good fishing lake, and in particular it is a great spot to catch Muskie. The Muskie was introduced to the waters of lake pomme de terre in 1966 by the Missouri conservation department when they began stocking selected lakes including lake Pomme De Terre. Since the conservation department started stocking the lake, fishermen have been known to pull Muskie that weigh more than 30 pounds and reach over 45 inches in length from Pomme De Terre. Lake pomme de terre has hundreds of coves where solitude and good catches of muskie and other fish can be combined. Overall if you are looking to have a nice relaxing vacation, and catch a few fish then you should definitely give lake Pomme De Terre a try.
Spotlight Lake Taneycomo
Posted by Samuel in Uncategorized on 08 20th, 2009First created in 1913 by damming, lake Taneycomo originated when the white river was confined by the completion of the powersite dam, near forsyth, missouri. The Lakes clear cold waters provide some of the finest trout fishing available anywhere in the world. The rainbow trout and brown trout that can be found in the waters of lake Taneycomo provide an exciting, year-round fishing experience. Weather you want to go fly fishing or get off the shore and take your boat out in the trophy trout area near the lake’s headwaters, lake Taneycomo is sure to provide you with some fishing excitement. The lake is very unique because the average temperature of the water gets warmer as the lake sinks to depths in excess of 50 feet near mile marker 1, however lake Taneycomo is a “cold water” lake. Lake Taneycomo has really turned into a successful vacation attraction in the ozarks and one of the better areas for trout fishing in all of missouri. This success is in large part due to the fact that the lake is so close to branson, which provides intertainment as well as plenty of resorts close to lake taneycomo. It was not until 1958 and the completion of table rock dam that lake Taneycomo became a cold water lake perfect for trout. Lake Taneycomo is stocked every year with almost three quarter of a million ten to twelve inch trout, most of which come from shepherd of the hills fish hatchery. The hatchery is located at the headwaters for lake Taneycomo and produces over 700,000 rainbow and brown trout per year for stocking…. With that many fish even I am sure to catch a few (and you can ask around, my luck when fishing is notorious)
Spotlight Truman lake
Posted by Samuel in Uncategorized on 08 19th, 2009I have been to Truman lake twice now and after an 8 year stocking program, walleye fishing on Truman lake has really took off with great catches around the confluence of the Osage river and pomme de terre river at kk island. This stocking program has really lead Truman to be a popular destination for fishermen in the summer as well as in the winter. The species of fish which are raised at the hatchery and then later used to stock Truman lake are muskellunge, channel catfish, largemouth bass, striped and hybrid striped bass, bluegill, and hybrid sunfish. Truman lake is not all about fishing however, surrounding the lake there is a great mountain bike park which has been built on corps of engineer land bordering the lake. All of these trails are in the immediate vicinity of Truman lake and make a great day trip while you are visiting the lake or are great for simply visiting themselves. The inaugural Truman lake adventure race winds throught some of these great mounting biking trails around the lake. Overall Truman lake in is a peaceful and fishy alternative to the more popular lake of the ozarks.
