Weekend Getaway to Bull Shoals Lake

Posted by Samuel in Uncategorized on 09 29th, 2009

All right so we were able to get away to Bull Shoals Lake this weekend and the weather was perfect.  It was realistically most likely the last weekend we will be able to water ski and put the jet-ski in the water, and the temperature was in the 80′s Saturday and Sunday.  We were able to get some great water skiing in, as well as 2 really good rounds of golf (well 1 good round… and then lest just call the other one fun lol) over at Theodosia country club.

We also lit a huge bonfire with all of the limbs we had been clearling the last few times we went down to Bull Shoals to work on the house which was really fun.  The flames shot at least 20-25 feet high during the peak of the fire which was pretty cool.  My friend Brian also came down with us and he brought his hand gun which we shot off about 80 rounds from!  That was awesome!

All in all it was a great weekend down at Bull Shoals and I am really happy that the weather cooperated with us and we were able to get in one last weekend on the water before it got to cold.

Promises to Clean Up Lake of the Ozarks

Posted by Samuel in News on 09 25th, 2009

Governor Jay Nixon promised today that the state of Missouri was going to clean up Lake of the Ozarks.  This is a welcome change of tune to many Missourians who were angered by Nixon’s silence during the whole “delayed release of E-Coli in the lake fiasco”

The governor said the state plans to launch a “sweep of all 400 waste water treatment permit holders at the lake” WOW, if this is actually done, and done thoroughly it will be really great for Lake of the Ozarks.  The Ozarks is notoriously unclean, so a large scale clean up effort has really been needed for some time now.  Hopefully the state will follow through with these promises and clean up the lake.  We will of course monitor the situation as it directly effects resort on lake of the ozarks, as well as the Missouri tourism industry in general.

Fishing on Bull Shoals Lake

Posted by Samuel in Fishing reports on 09 22nd, 2009

Well we just got back from fishing this weekend (9/20/09) at Bull Shoals Lake and man was the fishing good.  The first day we were there we went out with fishing guide Alan Tharp (who is and  excellent guide) and combine we caught just under 60 bass!  The following day we went out with our neighbour and resident fishing expert Russ Silvio.  We did really well again ending up with about 20 keepers.   All in all the fishing was some of the best we have recently had at Bull Shoals, and we are planing on going back again this weekend to work on our house as well as fish some more.

Navagation improved

Posted by Samuel in Website updates on 09 20th, 2009

We launched a new quick tab navigation link on the right hand side of most pages.  It is a small drop down menu that allows for quick access to all of the 10 lake pages on our website.  With this new menu, no matter where you are on our website any one of the 10 lakes that we cover on Show-Me-Lakes is only 1 click away.  We feel like we have greatly improved our navigation with this addition, and hopefully it makes browsing the different resorts and lakes on our website easier and less time consuming.

Check out the difference for yourself on any one of our missouri lake resort pages

Spotlight Mark Twain Lake fishing

Posted by Samuel in Fishing reports on 09 20th, 2009

So we took a small day trip up to Mark Twain Lake this weekend to do a little fishing and well… the results were less than ideal.  Now we had a great time relaxing on the lake and viewing all the great scenery on the lake (it is really one of the most beautiful lakes in Missouri, the core has kept the shoreline clear of large scale developments forcing lake resorts on Mark Twain to be built several hundred feet from the shoreline)  In my opinion this is really how all of the lakes should be governed, it keeps them beautiful, it is easier on the environment and it really promotes a more peaceful atmosphere.  Anyway back to the fishing… we didn’t do to hot.  We only caught 2 keepers, and had only a handful more bits the entire time.  Other than our lack of fishing prow-less they trip was excellent, the water was clean and pretty clear and the weather corporated on us and didn’t rain the entire trip.

Bull Shoals Lake Fishing Tournament

Posted by Samuel in News on 09 18th, 2009

We wanted to highlight a nice fishing tournament.  The Annual Promise Land Resorts Spring Bass Tournament.  The tournament is a non profit event, entry is for 2 man teams.  The entry fee is $40 which is not bad, plus the profits go to a good cause anyway.  The prize pool for the tournament is usually around $2,000 with the breakdown going like this:

1st place = 50%

2nd place = 30%

3rd place = 20%

If you are interested in participating in the tournament next year call Sister Creek Resort at 870-431-5587.  All and all the tournament seems like a great excuse to visit beautiful Bull Shoals Lake and have some fun fishing with friends.

Review the Cabins at Stockton Lake

Posted by Samuel in Missouri Vacations on 09 18th, 2009

The Cabins at Stockton Lake are a great place to enjoy your next visit to Stockton lake.   Joe Hughes, the owner and operator of the resort has truly built one of the nicest luxury resorts on Stockton Lake (and we are talking nice, if you have ever been to any of the fancy places at lake of the Ozarks, this is right up there with those)

Some amenities of the resort include:

- full size luxury kitchens

-open vaulted ceilings living rooms

- fireplace and cable TV in each cabin

1 to 1-1/2 baths with whirlpool tubs

1-2 bedrooms in each cabin

The resort itself is also located on some prime real estate.  It is situated right next to Stockton Country club, only a short walk from downtown Stockton Missouri.  The resort is close to many affordable restaurants and dining in the area as well which is an extra bonus.  All in all if you are looking for resorts on Stockont Lake the cabins at stockton will definitely not disappoint.
