Posted by Samuel in News on 09 16th, 2009The dealers association at the Lake of the Ozarks held their annual “in water” boat show September 13th. It was a good show with tons of boats available for visitors to browse through. Including some really great custom boats, and speed boats that weren’t exactly for sale. All in all the event was pretty cool, they always bring out some amazing boats too look at, and more than anything it is fun to ogle at all the hi dollar boats and talk about which ones too buy when we hit the jackpot! lol check out picks of some of the boats below:

Review Big Creek Resort
Posted by Samuel in Deals/Specials on 09 12th, 2009So we wanted to do a little review of Big Creek Resort on Bull Shoals Lake:
Big Creek came under new ownership last year and is now owned by Sandy and Tim Matthews. When the bought the resort they really made some drastic improvements. They basically COMPLETELY RENOVATED the entire resort! There are all new cabins [log style and the look amazing] as well as a new pool, rec room and laundry room. The resort is Truly one of the nicest resorts on Bull Shoals Lake and we recommend Big Creek highly. If you would like to contact Big Creek to inquire about reservations or if you just had some questions for them you can call them at [217-893-9003] or email them at: Bigcreek [@] mathewsgroup.biz
Economic Impact of the Tour of Missouri
Posted by Samuel in Uncategorized on 09 12th, 2009With the tour of Missouri in full swing it has been very interesting to watch the economic impact of the bike race [as well as the actual race itself which has been great so far]. The organizers of the Tour of Missouri have really managed to turn the event into a world class biking event, attracting loads of the worlds top talent [including George Hincapie one of my favorite riders].
Overall the race is exspected to generate $700,000 – $1,000,000 for the state [jackpot!] This is especially great because of the fact that the race rolls through many smaller towns in missouri and will provide them with a nice little boost in revenu. This is great for the state as it really helps out the hospitality industry [hotels, restaurants, resorts, and restaurants all will see a boost in business because of the race]. In addition to the added business it also gives Missouri some publicity [something that is very lacking, other than when Brad Pitt decides to come back into town lol] so that is a nice bonus as well. All in all the tour of Missouri is Great event, and has really elevated itself in recent years to the status of one of the elite biking events in the entire world.

Missouri Ash Borer
Posted by Samuel in News on 09 8th, 2009All right so for those of you who were not aware, the emerald ash borer was discovered at Lake Wappapello last year. The ash borer is a pesky bug that kills ash trees. It seemed almost inevitable that the bug would spread across Missouri spreading from Lake Wappapello but that has not really happened. So far it has really stayed contained to Wayne County where it was found in 2008. This is good news because the bug is very devastating to ash trees and would leave a path of dead/dieing ash trees in its wake if it migrated across Missouri. As time goes by the Missouri Department of conservation feels that the bug will almost certainly travel across Missouri but as of now the majority of the state has remained spared from the pesky bug, leaving only Lake Wappapello and the Wayne County area to deal with the critter.
MIZ
Posted by Samuel in Uncategorized on 09 4th, 2009All right well this post is somewhat off topic but the Missouri Tigers are taking on the Illinois tomorrow in the Jones Dome downtown to open up their season. The game looks to be a good one (really the last few years this game has always been great). But in particular it is going to be an exciting game because there are tons of new faces that will be starting for the first time including almost the whole secondary for Mizzou as well as Blain Gabbert at QB. We are getting revved up for the game here, and excited about the new season. Mizzou is not be getting any credit by any of the experts but I think this is probably the most talented team that we have had in the last few years (just imagine if maclin didnt leave early…) With Washington and Gabbert providing the 1-2 Punch at QB and RB I think this team has a real shot to win quite a few games and get back to another solid bowl…. the main question is the defence but then again it seems like the D is always the main ? for Mizzou.
Let’s go Tigers!
E. Coli at Lake of the Ozarks
Posted by Samuel in News on 09 2nd, 2009I just wanted to relay a story I saw on the Kansas City Star yesterday about Lake of the Ozarks. The story is below:
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources admitted this week that it withheld a report about high E. coli levels in parts of Lake of the Ozarks around Memorial Day “because they were concerned about the impact it would have on tourism and the public.”
That’s what the Kansas City Star is reporting in a shocking story that portrays the DNR as more concerned about revenue in the pockets of Missouri’s lake area merchants than they are about deadly pathogens possibly getting into the bloodstreams of thousands of boaters, swimmers, water skiiers and fisherman throughout the region.
A national clean-water expert and author said the report should have been released about May 28 when the danger was imminent, not June 26, when it was finally released with lower June samples. The spike in E. coli in one of Missouri’s most popular recreational waters was likely caused by heavy rains that washed human and animal feces into the water.
“We didn’t want to panic the people,” DNR spokeswoman Susanne Medley told the newspaper.
…. so needless to say someone should (and hopefully will) be loosing their job over this one. It is completely unacceptable to withhold this type of information from the public. This organization is set up to protect people, as well as the environment by monitoring our waterways. To not report their findings because of “fear of public panic” is a total joke, and is obviously a very poorly veiled attempt to help the tourism industry at the Lake of the Ozarks.
